Yes it's true, that when you work in a corporate setting there is a high expectation. The expectation to be ready and available throughout the day (and sometimes night) comes with the territory. Although this constant go go go is inevitable, unfortunately your brain doesn't have much time to digest all of the activity when it should. In theory, when you sleep, that's your downtime, right? Not exactly.
Have you ever noticed that when you're stressed you can't sleep, and when you can't sleep you are more stressed? It's a vicious cycle and one that can be interrupted with the right breathing cues.
The problem is, if you don't know how to regulate your breathing after stressful situations, your automatic nervous system automatically remains in fight or flight. A state of stress which makes it near impossible to relax.
How do you unwind after work? A drink or two? It's all too familiar. Then you wake up tired and irritable, ready to do the same thing all over again? Corporate life.
Before you know it, you're overworked, over tired, over stimulated and under performing.
Yes. As a business, you want your team on call. You want them to be available and ready to go and figuratively bursting with ideas. But, they're not robots. Life doesn't work that way. You need to give back, and not fuel the fire with after work drinks.
A little pick-me-up after lunch can do wonders. In just 30 mins, you can breathe new life into your team.
All you need is a conference room and 30 mins.
Phones are left at the door and eye masks are provided. Participants are encouraged to sit apart and enjoy their own space without any eye contact.
With the lights dimmed and music playing, breaths are unheard and everyone enjoys a sense of relief in a judgement free environment.
